Blog Entry #12.2 E-jeepney, showcasing Filipino Ingenuity and Creativity

As Filipinos, we can't deny the cultural importance of the jeepney. These colorful and well designed vehicles help thousands of Filipinos to get to work, scholar wherever they want to go everyday. Though they have become something that we can consider as "Uniquely Filipino" we still have to take note that because most of these jeepneys are formed by combining used parts (i.e. engines, chasis, etc.) together, they contribute to intense pollution by cloud of smoke they emit from their engine

Question now is: DO WE HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE TO WHAT IS UNIQUELY OURS?

Answer: OF COURSE NOT, WE NEVER SHOULD

Thankfully E-jeepneys (electrical jeepneys) are made. They are the answer to the polluting problem that the regular jeepneys produce. When fully charged, these e-jeepneys can travel approximately about 60km without exhaust emission, and  like the regular jeepneys they are colorfully designed and the seats are arrange n a longitudinal manner.

Currently, the E-jeepneys are used in 2 routes in Makati City.  Other cities in the country like Iloilo and Puerto Princesa have already followed suit to this wise and earth-friendly alternative.
