We've been featuring too much international innovators. Why not give a round of applause to our blood and kin who have inspired us and the world as well? Let us now give our undivided attention to Filipino innovators!
1. Mang Solar Demi
Many people say that to create is to make something out of nothing. If that is the case, Mang Solar Demi, as what people call him, is somewhat like God. This is because he actually innovated light in depressing, poor homes out of scraps and everyday materials. He punched a hole in a piece of metal roofing, slipped a bottle in the hole, applied a sealant to it, then filled the bottle with filtered water and bleach. Then, he installed it into the roof by applying sealant to it.
Because of this innovation of Mang Solar Demi, many Filipinos are now applying this to their homes. Don't believe it? Check this video out!
Filipinos are known to be very creative, resourceful and quick learners and that's why they face problems always with a positive attitude. This is evident in our skills of making new things out of scraps and keeping old equipment working. As Filipinos, we should embody and develop this creative spirit of ours and use it to lift our country from economic problems.
